• On the way make a stop in Orvieto for a guided tour. Take a funicular (fee included) to the town where we see the dodecagon, a rare and unique 12-sided figure in the form of a bell tower, at Sant’ Andrea Church on Piazza della Repubblica. See also the magnificent Duomo with the Chapel where the corporal of the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena is preserved (entrance fee included).
• Celebrate Mass at local church (subject to confirmation).
• Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, where we will also taste the famous Orvieto white wine (included).

• Start a day in Assisi, city with narrow lanes, the Shrines of Saint Francis and the overwhelming art dedicated to its young friar - a rich young man who turned to God after an illness and established an order that has grown stronger over the centuries.
• Visit the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli with local guide. Crowned by the magnificent dome designed by Alessi, this great Basilica was built in 1569. It enclosed the shrine of the "Porziuncola" or the Little Portion Chapel around which the first Franciscan community was centered, the place where Clare received the habit from Francis, and the Capella Del Transito, which marks the spot where the Saint died.
• You will see the statue of Saint Francis in the courtyard where thornless roses bloom. After that visit the Basilica of St. Francis (entrance fee included). 
• Our local guide will take us to explore the Basilica complex, which is actually composed of two churches built one atop the other. Beneath both churches is the crypt that houses the tomb of St. Francis. The lower Basilica dates from 1228 to 1230, and is richly decorated with beautiful stained glass windows, and paintings done by some of the most important artists of the 13th and 14th centuries. In the upper Basilica, built from 1230 - 1253, we will marvel at the monumental frescoes painted by Giotto, which depict scenes from the life of the saint. 
• Celebrate Mass at the Tomb of St. Francis (subject to confirmation).
• Independent lunch.
• Continue to visit the Basilica of St. Clare, the first and most important heroine of the Franciscan movement, view her remains and see the miraculous Crucifix. 
• In the afternoon we will visit San Damiano Sanctuary which the Friars Minor have inhabited from the end of the thirteenth century.
• Dinner at the hotel.

• After breakfast we depart early to Sorrento.
• Guided tour of Montecassino. We will visit the Abbey was founded around the year 529 by San Benedetto. The Abbey has been completely destroyed on 15 February 1944, during the Second World War, when it was subjected to a massive and completely unjustified aerial bombardment by the Allied forces. The reconstruction started immediately and today we can visit and admire the restored Abbey. Mass will be celebrated in the Crypt, where saint Benedict and his sister St Scholastica are buried.
• Celebrate Mass at San Benedict Abbey (subject to confirmation).
• Lunch on your own.
• Proceed to Sorrento.
• Check-in at the hotel.

• It is time to break for a light lunch on your own.
• We then reach the breathtaking scenic overlook facing the Faraglioni rock formations.
• Balance of the day is at leisure for an optional “Blue Grotto” (not included).
• In the late afternoon, take the ferry to Sorrento.
• Continue by bus to our hotel.
• Dinner on your own.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Today we will enjoy a bus ride along the Amalfi coast, one of the most fascinating coastlines in the world.
• First, a picture stop over Positano.
• Then, Amalfi, the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana, and is today an important tourist destination. Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Andrew (entrance fee included), where the saint is buried.
• Here we will celebrate Mass. (subject to confirmation).
• Enjoy some time at leisure for lunch on your own.
• In the afternoon, we will experience a visit to a lemon grove with practical demonstrations of work and explanations on the production process of lemons. Tasting of typical products such as fresh homemade lemonade, slices of sugary lemon, lemon and orange jams, and of course Limoncello (included).
• From Amalfi, by a short boat ride, we reach Maiori (fee included).
• Return to Sorrento by minibus.
• Dinner at the hotel.

• This morning we drive towards Rome. 
• On the way we will stop in a buffalo mozzarella farm and factory, where we will enjoy a light lunch and tasting (included).

• After breakfast, we meet the local guide.
• The ancient Romans referred to Rome as Caput Mundi – the head of the world. As the center of the Roman Republic and then the Empire, Rome witnessed 1,000 years of one of the greatest civilizations in the world before becoming the seat of what is now the Catholic Church. Evidence of the glory of ancient Rome and the Italian Renaissance can be seen throughout the historical center.
• This morning you will follow the local guide and explore the famous Colosseum – the largest ancient amphitheater in the world and the site of countless gladiator games (exterior views).
• Continue to the Roman forum, the administrative capital of the Empire and the site of some of the most famous speeches in history by the likes of Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony and Cicero. 
• Break for independent lunch.
• In the afternoon we continue to tour with the oldest of the four major basilicas in Rome, and the home to the relics of Peter and Paul, the Basilica of St. John the Lateran. This Basilica is where Pope Francis was installed as Bishop of Rome.
• Next, we will cross the street to visit the Holy Stairs. These Holy Stairs are the very steps leading up to the praetorium of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem on which Jesus stepped on his way to trial during his Passion. The Stairs were brought to Rome by Saint Helena in the fourth century. Ascending these stairs on our knees, in memory of Christ's agonizing Passion.
• We conclude your day with Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. (subject to confirmation), dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, St. Mary Major reigns as the only Basilica that has kept its original structure and is an authentic jewel in the crown of Roman Churches. This Basilica contains a relic from the Manger of the Infant Jesus (entrance fee included).

• In the morning, we will visit one of the most important museums in the world. Legally its own country, Vatican City is the head and administrative center of the Catholic Church. One of the most extensive museum collections in the world, the museum is also home to the Sistine Chapel, where the legendary Michelangelo created one of his most famous masterpieces on the ceiling (entrance fee included).
• After the museums we will visit St. Peter’s Basilica (entrance fee included), the largest Catholic basilica ever built. Its soaring dome was engineered by Michelangelo and the artist’s famous Pieta sculpture and countless other artistic wonders make St. Peter’s church one of the most awe–inspiring buildings in the world.
• Celebrate Mass at St. Anna in Vatican (subject to confirmation).
• Lunch at the local restaurant (included).
• This afternoon, we will see the Bernini’s Four Rivers fountain in Piazza Navona, Pantheon, the Caravaggio’s paintings, the Pantheon, and finally the Trevi Fountain (exterior views).

This is an active itinerary that requires about 15,000 steps walking each day, sometimes on uneven surfaces, including stairs. Begin to prepare through a daily walking program. 

As a pilgrimage, we will commit ourselves to working together to cooperate and support one another, realizing that different foods, cultures, and experiences are why we are traveling! Quoted prices are based on payment by check. An additional 1% + 30¢ online processing fee is charged for all online transactions, with an additional 2.9% (Visa, Mastercard) to 3.9% (American Express) service charge for credit/debit card payments. There is no online processing fee nor service charge for registrations (or subsequent payments) mailed directly to Cloverdale Travel with payment by check.

Flights offered with this trip are Group Air Reservations. All seating assignments are made by the airline. Cloverdale Travel cannot process special seating requests. If you have very specific needs regarding seating and flight accommodations, you should make your own flight arrangements and book the pilgrimage without adding air.  Switches from Land with Air to Land only after booking incur a $100 fee. 

Individual deposits are refundable except for a $500/person handling fee for cancellations made 90 days or more prior to departure. 

For cancellations 90 to 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded everything except your initial deposit ($1000). 

If you cancel the trip within 60 days of departure, all payments are non-refundable. 

Unused portions of the trip are non-refundable. 

Cloverdale Travel cannot refund credit card/bank fees, nor refund money paid for travel protection/insurance.

Trip cancellation/protection plan is optional, but highly encouraged. Travel protections plans are available through Travelex, or through your own carrier. A link to Travelex will be included in your confirmation/registration email.  If you decline to purchase travel protection/insurance, you assume all financial liability for losses that might have been covered by appropriate travel insurance/protection. A form indicating acceptance or waiver of travel insurance/protection must be completed and submitted for each registration; those purchasing travel insurance/protection will be asked to provide carrier and policy/confirmation number.
