• At the airport, meet and be greeted by our professional tour manager after the baggage claim area and immediately depart Rome towards the north. 
• Drive approx. 2 hours to reach Orvieto.
• Visit the gothic Duomo (entrance fee included), built to house the holy relics of the Eucharistic Miracle of Orvieto. It was this miracle that occasioned the proclamation of the Feast of Corpus Christi and inspired St. Thomas Aquinas to write the famous hymn “Tantum Ergo.” 
• Celebrate Mass there (subject to confirmation).

• Continue to Assisi (1,5 hrs drive). 
• Visit the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Crowned by the magnificent dome designed by Alessi, this great Basilica was built in 1569. It enclosed the shrine of the "Porziuncola" or the Little Portion Chapel around which the first Franciscan community was centered, the place where Clare received the habit from Francis, and the Capella Del Transito, which marks the spot where the Saint died.

• Our walking guided tour departs from Santa Chiara Church that honors St. Clare, the foundress of the Poor Clare Sisters. This Saint followed the teachings of St. Francis very closely by also living a life of poverty and humility. By walking we reach the Santuario Della Spogliazione where Blessed Carlo Acutis’ tomb is placed. Carlo is the first millennial to be declared Blessed who loved the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. 
• From there, we will continue on a walking tour through this picturesque town, including the birthplace of St. Francis, and finally we will visit St. Francis Basilica (entrance fee included). In the upper basilica, we will marvel at the site of the great frescoes from Giotto, which describes the life of St Francis, In the lower basilica we visit the tomb of St. Francis. 
• Enjoy some free time on our own - take this time for additional prayer, shop in the many gift shops.
• Lunch on your own.
• In the afternoon we will continue the guided tour to San Damiano heritage. One day in the autumn of 1205 the Lord was waiting here for Francis. On a morning in April of 1211 the Lord welcomed Clare together with her first sisters. They encountered each other and thus began their Christian adventure. Brother, Sister. Perhaps here today the Lord will meet with you. May your faith be firm and may the Lord grant you peace.

• Depart for San Giovanni Rotondo with a stop in Lanciano (Assisi – Lanciano approx. 4 hrs).
• Visit the Church of St Francis. This Church is the site of the Eucharistic Miracle that occurred in the eighth century.

• Lunch on your own.
• Continue to San Giovanni Rotondo.

• This morning is dedicated to Saint Padre Pio. We honor his work as we visit his tomb, his cell, his confessional at the Capuchin Monastery of Our Lady of Grace.

• We will also visit the new Church of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, and the Home for the Relief of the Suffering.  
• Lunch on your own.
• In the afternoon, we visit the Grotto of St. Michael the Archangel.

• We drive to Pompei (approx. 3,5 hrs).
• We stop at Bosco de Medici Winery.  
• Enjoy lunch at the winery, based on ancient Vesuvian cuisine. Our visit includes the vineyards and the cellar, where we discover the “amphora” rooms, which contain wines aged according to the ancient Roman traditions. 
• Discover the “frozen city” of Pompei (entrance fee included).
• Celebrate Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine (subject to confirmation). 
• Continue to Sorrento.

• Today we will enjoy a bus ride along the Amalfi coast, one of the most fascinating coastlines in the world.
• First picture stop over Positano.
• Then, Amalfi, the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana, and is today an important tourist destination. Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Andrew (entrance fee included), where the saint is buried.
• Celebrate Mass there (subject to confirmation).

• From Amalfi, by a short boat ride, we reach Maiori (entrance fee included). 🡪 The activity might not be possible in 2025 due to expected new regulations. If these regulations are not passed, we will use the bus instead.
• Return to Sorrento.

• Drive to Montecassino
• On the way we will stop in a buffalo mozzarella farm and factory.

• Continue to Rome.

• Continue with our guide, to visit the Basilica of St Mary Major (entrance fee included), which is one of the oldest and most important shrines in the world dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
• Visit the Holy Stairs and the Basilica of St John in Lateran, which houses a table on which the Apostle Peter many times has celebrated the Eucharist during his stay in Rome.
• Enjoy a downtown walking tour of Rome including Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona.
• Dinner at the hotel.

• Early this morning,  we will attend the Papal Audience in St Peter’s Square with Pope Francis.  
• Transfer to the city centre.

• This afternoon  we will drive to the old quarter of Trastevere. Pietro (San Peter) arrived in Rome by ship at the Port of Ripa Grande, a few steps from the Basilica of St Cecilia, in a neighborhood at the time inhabited by Jews and was hosted here. 
• Enjoy a walking tour around this quarter visiting the Church of St Francesco a Ripa and the Basilica of St Maria in Trastevere. 
• Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

This is an active itinerary that requires about 15,000 steps walking each day, sometimes on uneven surfaces, including stairs. Begin to prepare through a daily walking program. 

As a pilgrimage, we will commit ourselves to working together to cooperate and support one another, realizing that different foods, cultures, and experiences are why we are traveling! The unexpected is God's way of sharing with us something (or someone) we otherwise would not have encountered.  Be ready to travel in patience and trust. 

Quoted prices are based on payment by check. An additional 1% + 30¢ online processing fee is charged for all online transactions, with an additional 2.9% (Visa, Mastercard) to 3.9% (American Express) service charge for credit/debit card payments. There is no online processing fee nor service charge for registrations (or subsequent payments) mailed directly to Cloverdale Travel with payment by check.

Please note that payments by check are typically processed once a week on Saturdays.

Flights offered with this trip are Group Air Reservations. All seating assignments are made by the airline. Cloverdale Travel cannot process special seating requests. If you have very specific needs regarding seating and flight accommodations, you should make your own flight arrangements and book the pilgrimage without adding air.  Switches from Land with Air to Land only after booking incur a $100 fee. 

Individual deposits are refundable except for a $500/person handling fee for cancellations made 90 days or more prior to departure. 

For cancellations 90 to 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded everything except your initial deposit ($1000). 

If you cancel the trip within 60 days of departure, all payments are non-refundable. 

Unused portions of the trip are non-refundable. 

Cloverdale Travel cannot refund credit card/bank fees, nor refund money paid for travel protection/insurance.

Trip cancellation/protection plan is optional, but highly encouraged. Travel protections plans are available through Travelex, or through your own carrier. A link to Travelex will be included in your confirmation/registration email.  If you decline to purchase travel protection/insurance, you assume all financial liability for losses that might have been covered by appropriate travel insurance/protection. A form indicating acceptance or waiver of travel insurance/protection must be completed and submitted for each registration; those purchasing travel insurance/protection will be asked to provide carrier and policy/confirmation number.
